For my Kundalini yoga teacher training, I’m having to partake in tasks that are challenging and often push me to the max – getting out of bed at 5 am, taking a cold shower, doing 54 frog poses, to name a few.
What I’m finding after I complete a tough task, often chanting “Sat Nam” or saying to myself “you can do this, you can do this,” I’m feeling empowered and so strong. I’m feeling a feeling of accomplishment and an “I can take on the world” emotion.
What facing these daily challenges is teaching me — in addition to revealing to myself how strong I am — is, I need to take on challenges in my daily life. I need to move out of my comfort zone and walk head-on into situations and tasks that aren’t easy. This is what will make me learn, make me strong and likely leave me in a better place than where I was before partaking in the difficult task.
Just like with Kundalini yoga, its the moments after you come out of a tough experience or situation that you feel awakened, wiser and so much stronger.
So, my advice for you, and for myself – start with baby steps, continue taking on minor challenges, such as early morning wake-ups and painful yoga postures, and monitor how you feel after. Then, keep advancing to bigger challenges. Eventually you’ll be unstoppable, and most importantly, confident in your own power to persevere.
glow & flow,
